And then there were four.

Ok, so here's the thing. Being a conversation teacher sounded like a hell of a lot of fun and I think will be - but while every other teacher in this school has a book, a specific curriculum to follow - I have nothing. The past conversation teachers took everything they did with them and I was left with nothing but a couple of photocopies and super vague explanations about what exactly I'm supposed to teach and how I'm supposed to do it. I've asked over and over just HOW they want me to go about teaching but nobody seems to really KNOW or be worried about it so I've been on the Internet for the past couple of weeks trying to figure out what a person like me does and how to go about it.

Thank You Internet.

So, indeed I've been neglecting the blog but it's been in the pursuit of children's education so that's you know... practically Mother Teresa like. :D

Moving on.

Whoever wrote to me about a month ago that they predicted I would be knocked up within the next year - I'd like to officially say that I don't like you very much. Sparx? Maybe Sparx. Oh, and why?
BECAUSE I'M PREGNANT AGAIN.

*faints*
*barfs*
*barfs again*
*aaaaand faints*

I've been sick as a DOG off and on for two weeks and I'm still not sure if I have the flu or not but one thing for sure is that ye ole E.P.T. had double lines yesterday.

Oh my God.

Just.

In the words of my newly found sister "craptastic."

Did I tell you guys that a half sister that I've never met (I'm 28 and she's 26) found me via Facebook about two weeks ago? FACEBOOK!!! We've been corresponding ever since and even spoke on the phone!!! It's pretty damn amazing. Like, Oprah Amazing! It's REALLY cool, because SHE'S cool. :)

So, I've got a great job that's been requiring all my time, a new found sister and I'm pregnant.

Dear Gawd did I mention I'm pregnant?

Did I mention that I've not been able to keep anything in my stomach for two days and feel like I've been hit by a flu-filled train?

Swear to God I'm never doing this again. This baby better have testicles or Chino is OUT OF LUCK in the boy dept.

Ok, *nauseous* Love you blog pals, and I'll write coherently soon. :D

Lindy - Congratulations. I know it sucks right now - my wife went through 9 months of morning sickness for all four of our kids. She also swore she'd never have another kid all through the pregnancy....again, all four of them. However, since 3 of my kids are boys, if Chino needs one, I'll just have him Fedexed across the border to you. And since I live in MI, you'll still have a bit of home (just the wrong side of the state). Now how's that for an offer? ;)

That being said...

Better you than me. LOL

Felicidades Lindy!!! My buddy and I have been checking your blog everyday for news on your job or whatever other interesting stuff you have to say. Let me just say that I was not expecting a pregnancy, that felt like one of those twists in the movies. Your'e probably like, yeah, for me too, and this isn't the movies it's my life. I hope you start feeling better soon. My ickyness wore off around 3 months, now I just wish I could sleep through the night without having to pee :(
Keep us updated between being Daisy's mommy, Mother Teresa, sick, and oh yeah Chino's wife ;)

That's awesome...about the sister. (and the baby but will wait until you're up to be Congratulated on that) Wow, who knew teachers worked so hard. Hopefully you can find a curriculum that has it all laid out for you already

So, you have a parasite? Errr, rather a fetal growth. Someone said, ..I think it was the Beatles or maybe Tom Waits, that it will all come together. Being an original, you will come up with a way to teach that will set them on their ear, or rear. (as long we you keep the nasty words to a minimum. ;0) Glad to have you back and really...I will visualize testes..

That's crazy about your sister, too! Your family just keeps getting bigger.

Thought you might be working on teacher-related stuff for your job, and I see that you were. Oh, and what?! you're having a baby?! Congratulations! Oh,and what?! You found that you have a sister?! OMG, that is amazing! I know there is a bit of stress related to all three things, but in the end, it's all good. I'm happy for you.

Wow - that's a lot all at once. Congratulations! And, um, yeah, I'm pretty sure it was me that said you'd be having another one soon. I think that was in response to something you wrote about not having another baby "yet". SO, go ahead, hate away. ^.^ But congratulations anyway, and about the sister too. (Wow!) And I eagerly anticipate more darling baby photos.

Well, now we know what happens when you have 1) picked out the name of your next kid should he be male, 2) make fun of kids named Jesus and 3) ask G-d to a) not take #2 serously and b) make sure you don't wind up expecting just because you blog about all of this in one post.

Serioulsy - congratulations and may you have an uneventful pregnancy and healthy sibling for Daisy.

As always Bookstores and forums are a must. There are probably hundreds books on Teaching English to non-native speakers or specifically - to speakers of Mexican Spanish.

If you're going to be oral teacher - give them a chance to listen to those familiar pop songs and to sing the lyrics and then discuss the meaning, vocabulary, words used in everyday language (y'all vs you all) and words used in that particular song,

Then move to heavier stuff - read NY Times and make them translate paragraphs and stuff.

Create games like hang man for better spelling.

There is so much you can do. But I think you should, according to their age, use materials suitable to their intellectual abilities (with kids you gotta sing 24/7, with older folk you gotta explain Present Perfect for about 62 times minimum until one person in the group figures it out)

There is some good stuff on the Internet, forums I think, that could help you immensely.

Goodluck!
